Using Signature Capture

PDT 3400s equipped with signature capture capability can be used to capture, store, and
compress signatures collected through an application, and play those signatures back on the
PDT 3400's display. An optional stylus (pen) for writing on the PDT 3400's display is
available from Symbol.

Calibrating the Screen

The screen must be calibrated before it can be used for signature capture (a one-time process).
If the screen has not been calibrated, the calibration screen displays on power up. If the screen
was calibrated previously, run the PENCALIB.EXE program from the DOS command line to
calibrate the screen again.
1. Touch the + sign in the top left-hand corner.
2. Touch the + sign in the bottom right-hand corner.
The PDT 3400 beeps at each touch and the + sign flashes.
3. Press any key to exit the calibration screen.
Calibration is saved in CMOS, and remains as long as CMOS is valid.
Symbol has provided a signature capture sample program in the PDT 3400 SDK for
development use. Refer to the PDT 3400 System Software Manual for more details on this
program.
