Troubleshooting Checklists

This section provides possible solutions for problems that may occur when using the
disk array unit. If the problem you encounter is not described in this section or if the
error persists, contact your service representative for assistance.
The Power LED (green) does not light although the power switch is turned on.
Is the power cable properly connected? After setting the power switch to OFF,
check that the power cord is properly connected to the unit and plugged into a
NEMA 5-15R outlet (100-120 Vac), a NEMA 6-15R outlet (200-240 Vac), or a
UPS that meets the power specifications of the system.
Is AC power available at the wall outlet?
The Linkup LED (green) of the controller on the disk array unit connected with the FC
cable, the Linkup LED (green) of the adapter on the additional disk enclosure, or the Loop
Status LED (green) of the host bus adapter connected with the FC cable does not go on.
Is the FC cable properly connected? Insert the connector of the FC cable until a
click is heard. See Connecting the Disk Array Unit in Chapter 2 for more
information.
Does the length of the FC cable exceed the rating value? See Connecting the Disk
Array Unit in Chapter 2 for more information.
Is the setting of the host bus adapter or FC-AL switch correct? Provide the proper
setting referring to the user's guides of the host bus adapter, FC-AL switch, host
system, and added peripherals.
Is the used host bus adapter compatible with the disk array unit? Contact your
sales agent for a list of approved HBAs.
The host system cannot recognize the disk array unit.
Is the FC cable properly connected? Insert the connector of the FC cable until a
click is heard. See Connecting the Disk Array Unit in Chapter 2 for more
information.
Did you follow the right power-on order? You must first turn on the disk array
unit, then the host system. See Powering On the Disk Array Unit in Chapter 2 for
more information.
Did you properly set the AL-PA? Each device participating in an arbitrated loop
must be assigned a unique 8-bit physical address. See Connecting the Disk Array
Unit to the Host System in Chapter 2 for more information.
Did you properly set the HBA or FC-AL switch? Provide the proper setting
referring to the user's guides of the host bus adapter, FC-AL switch, host system,
and added peripherals.
Is the used host bus adapter compatible with the disk array unit? Contact your
sales agent for a list of approved HBAs.
Is the disk array unit installed in an area subject to vibration and/or shocks? See
Safety Notices in the Preface.
