Access Control Feature

The access control feature allows you to manage access to the disk array unit.
It consists in:
Establishing the port or host that can access each logical disk.
Running the logical disk masking feature on a port-by-port or host-by-host basis
to protect data and ensure security.

About Access Control

The access control feature determines the logical disks accessible from the controller or
host and masks these disks. To use access control, the cross call feature must be
enabled.
Dedicated software (NEC Storage AccessControl for S1300), which must be purchased
separately, is necessary for using the access control feature. For more information on
using NEC Storage AccessControl, refer to the Quick Reference Guide .
Before the access control feature can be used on this system, the license key provided
with the software must be entered from the management software in order to release the
license lock. You can release the license lock and make settings by yourself or contact
your local service representative.

Modes Supported by Access Control

The access control feature supports the following two modes.
Port mode
WWN mode
Do not use the two modes in the same unit. Considering the system
configuration/design and the complexity of operation, the use of only Port Mode or
WWN Mode in each disk array unit is strongly recommended. Two modes cannot be
co-existent in one controller.
