Drive options

For a list of drive configurations supported in this server, see "Device numbering (on page 20)."
The embedded HP Dynamic Smart Array B140i Controller only supports SATA devices. For SAS drive
installation, install an HP Host Bus Adapter or an HP Smart Array Controller board option.

Drive installation guidelines

When adding drives to the server, observe the following general guidelines:
The system automatically sets all device numbers.
Populate drive bays, based on the drive numbering sequence. Start from the drive bay with the lowest
device number
All drives grouped into the same drive array must meet the following criteria:
They must be either all SAS or all SATA.

They must be either all hard drives or all solid state drives.
