2. Turbocharger System
A: GENERAL

The turbocharger system consists of a water-cooled turbocharger, air-cooled intercooler, waste-
gate control solenoid valve, etc.

The outlet side turbine, rotated by exhaust gas pressure, rotates the inlet side turbine. As a re-
sult, the inlet side turbine compresses the intake air before it is delivered to the intake manifold.

The intake air is heated when it passes through the turbocharger unit. The air is cooled as it
passes through the intercooler.

This turbocharger system controls the supercharging pressure according to changes in the at-
mospheric pressure. Even at a high altitude, therefore, the system offers stable performance with-
out being affected by variations in atmospheric pressure.
