Restricting access to functions (Lock function)

The new feature "Lock function" enables only users who know the password to config-
ure certain functions and settings of the MusicCAST server. For example, if you lock
the "Delete" function, the MusicCAST server requires a password before allowing a
user to delete library items. This is useful when you want to protect important data
against unauthorized access. Please note that the function to lock MusicCAST client
operations (see page 94 of the MCX-1000 Owner's Manual) is different from the Lock
function.
Functions and settings you can lock are as follows:
System Setup menu
In this menu, you can restrict access to the following setup items.

Lock function
If you lock any of these functions,
the MusicCAST server
automatically locks the "System
Utilities" function to prevent
"System Reset" from acting on
the locked functions. To use a
function in "System Utilities",
disable the Lock function applied
to it or unlock it with a password.
(System Utilities: see page 128 of
the MCX-1000 Owner's Manual)
Network
If you lock "Network", the
MusicCAST server automatically
locks "System Reset" and
"Network" on all connected
MusicCAST clients. To use these
functions on any of the connected
MusicCAST clients, disable the
Lock function applied to
"Network" on the MusicCAST
server. (Network of MusicCAST
clients: see page 26 of the MCX-
A10 Owner's Manual, System
Reset: see page 66 of the MCX-
A10 Owner's Manual)
Edit function
If you lock "Edit title", the
MusicCAST server automatically
restricts access to the Edit title
screen from a computer using the
Browser Edit function (see page
9). If you lock "Delete", "Move to",
"New", "Add link", "Copy to", or
"Add to playlist", the MusicCAST
server automatically restricts
access to the Edit playlist screen
from a computer using the
Browser Edit function. To access
these screens with the Browser
Edit function, disable the Lock
function applied to the relevant
function on the MusicCAST
server.
