Wipe area around fill loca-
tion clean.

to remove cap 1 from the
engine oil filler neck.
Add engine oil up to speci-
fied level.

General brake system

Brake safety
A fully functional brake sys-
tem is a basic requirement for
the road safety of your motor-
cycle.
Do not ride the motorcycle if
you have any doubts about
the dependability of the brake
system.
In this case, have the brake
system checked by a special-
ized workshop, preferably by
an authorized BMW Motorrad
retailer.
Incorrect working prac-
tices endanger the relia-
bility of the brakes.
Have all work on the brake
system performed by a spe-
cialized workshop, preferably
by an authorized BMW Motor-
rad retailer.
Checking brake
operation
Pull handbrake lever.
Pressure point must be
clearly perceptible.
Press footbrake lever.
Pressure point must be
clearly perceptible.
