Use adjusting rings 2 and 3
to adjust spring preload.

Release the lock by turn-
ing adjusting ring 2 in direc-
tion b with the tool from the
toolkit, while holding adjust-
ing ring 3 with second tool
from the toolkit.
To turn the adjusting rings,
engage tool 4 from above
in such a way that all three
hooks 5 securely engage
the grooves.
Make sure there is no load
on the motorcycle; remove
all items of luggage, if car-
ried.
Measure distance d1 be-
tween the bottom edge of
luggage-plate recess 6 and
the top edge of axle tube 7.
Apply the weight of the rider
(and passenger, if applica-
ble) to the motorcycle.
With the assistance
of a helper, measure
distance d2 between
points 6 and 7 and calculate
the difference between
distances d1 and d2.
