6.2  Changing the Wheelbase (Fig�43/44)
Shiftingtherearwheelsbackwardslengthensthewheelbaseandthusprovidesforgreater
stabilityofthewheelchair.Attachingtherearwheelsinamoreforwardposition(onlyforad-
vancedwheelchairusers!)reducestheloadonthecasters,whichmakesthewheelchairmore
manoeuvrable.Thecasterwheelscanthenalsobeliftedmoreeasilytoclearobstaclessuch
ascurbsorsteps.
Start M1 Intro, M2 Effect, M3 Hemi and M6 Junior: Loosenthetwoscrewsoftherearwheel
adapter,turnitroundandmounttherearwheeladapterinthedesiredfront/backposition(Fig.
43/44).Thesettingmustalwaysbeequalonbothsides.
Start M4 XXL and M5 Comfort:Loosenthenutofthefittingontheinsideoftherearwheel
adapterandmountthefittinginthedesiredmoreforward/backwardposition(Fig.44).Theset-
tingmustalwaysbeequalonbothsides.
Thedistancebetweenrearwheelandsidepanelcanbecontinuouslyadjustedbyadjustingthe
counternutontheoutersideoftherearwheeladapter.
Whenchangingtheadjustmentsoriginallymadeinthefactory,twootherassembliesofthe
wheelchairmustbereadjusted,refertoSections6.4and6.5.

Risk of tipping. Pleasenote:Iftherearwheelsareinamoreforwardpositionandtheuser'sbodyis
notappropriatelypositioned,theusermaytipbackward–evenonlevelground!
