6.6 Adjusting the Brake Force – Drum Brake (Fig�52)
Thebrakeforceisadjustedattheadjustmentscrewtoachieveoptimalbrakingeffect.Thebrake
forceisincreasedbyturningtheadjustmentscrew(Fig.52,itemA)counter-clockwiseandde-
creasedbyturningthescrewclockwise.
Turntheadjustmentscrewcounter-clockwiseuntilfrictionalnoiseoccursattheturningwheel.
Thentightentheadjustmentscrewuntilthefrictionalnoisedisappears.Thewheelshouldrun
freely.
Afterfinishingtheadjustment,fastentheadjustmentscrewbytighteningthecounternut(Fig.
52,itemB).

Ensurethatthebrakeforceofbothrearwheelsisadjustedequally.

Makesurethatthedrumbrakeengageswithsufficientforceonlywhenthemanualbrakeleverisset
tothesecondratchetposition.

Priortoadjustingthefootplateangle,loosenthescrewconnectionsasindicatedinthefigure.
Thensetthefootplatetothedesiredangle.

Makesuretore-tightentheloosenedscrewconnections.Thepropertorqueis6 nm.
6.8 Adjusting the Lower Leg Length (Fig�54/55)
Bylooseningthesetscrew,thefootplatecanbeadaptedtoyourlowerleglengthandtothe
thicknessofyourseatcushion(standardfootrest=Fig.54;elevatingfootrest=Fig.55).
Makesureduringadjustmentthatthefootrestbarisslidintotheswivelsegmentatleast40 mm.
Amarkonthefootrestbaralsoindicatestheminimumdistancethebarmustbeinserteddur-
inginstallation.
