CHECKING THE CONNECTING ARM AND
RELAY ARM
1. Check:
• Connecting arm "1"
• Relay arms "2"
Damage/wear → Replace.
2. Check:
• Bearings
• Oil seals
Damage/pitting → Replace.
3. Check:
• Collars
Damage/scratches → Replace.

INSTALLING THE REAR SHOCK
ABSORBER ASSEMBLY
1. Lubricate:
• Collars
• Oil seals
Recommended lubricant
Lithium-soap-based grease
2. Install:
• Bearings "1"
(to the connecting arm)
• Oil seals "2"
New
(to the connecting arm)
Installed depth of bearing "a"
4.0 mm (0.16 in)
TIP
When installing the oil seals to the connecting
arm, face the character stamp of the oil seals
outside.
REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY
3. Frame
4. Swingarm
A. Left side
B. Right side
3. Install:
• Rear shock absorber assembly
• Connecting arm "1"
• Relay arms "2"
TIP
• Install the rear shock absorber upper bolt
and frame and connecting arm bolt from the
right.
• Install the rear shock absorber lower bolt,
relay arm and connecting arm bolt, and relay
arm and swingarm bolt from the left.
• When installing the rear shock absorber
assembly, lift up the swingarm.
