Installing the Printer Driver as an AppleTalk Device on Your NT Server
3–4
Administrator's Guide
There are two parts to installing the printer as an AppleTalk device. They are:
• Installing AppleTalk network services (called "Services for Macintosh")
• Installing the printer driver on the NT server using AppleTalk.
Adding AppleTalk Network Services
Use this section to install Services for Macintosh on your NT server. Once
installed, Services for Macintosh enables the server to attach to the printer as
an AppleTalk device and allows the server to provide network printing
services to any Macintosh computers on your network. This is true even if
you connect to the printer using TCP/IP.
To install Services for Macintosh:
1. On the Control Panel, double-click on the Network icon. The Network
Settings dialog box appears.
2. If Services for Macintosh are already installed, go to "Installing the Printer
Driver on the NT Server Using AppleTalk Services". If not, select Add
Software.
3. Select Services for Macintosh and click on the OK button. You will be
prompted for diskettes.
4. Insert Windows NT diskettes as prompted. When installation is complete,
Services for Macintosh

5. Select Services for Macintosh and click on Configure. A configuration
dialog box appears.
6. Select Yes or No to enable or not enable AppleTalk routing. For simple
networks, choose No. Click on the OK button.
7. If the AppleTalk network has zones, select the desired zone and click on
the OK button.
8. Exit Windows and reboot the server.
You have completed the AppleTalk Network Services portion of installation.
