If you operate the IBM Network Color Printer in a copy shop, quick print shop,
or service bureau, you might want to give the PostScript Level 2 Printer Driver
and IBM Network Color Printer PPD to your customers who regularly bring in
color print jobs. Customers can install the printer driver and use it to print
documents to file. They can bring these files in to your shop for printing on the
IBM Network Color Printer. The resulting PostScript files are properly
formatted for taking advantage of the printer features.
When the customer brings a PostScript file into the shop, the file can be
downloaded to the printer with the Downloader utility. This is fast, eliminates
the necessity of having the original application loaded at your shop, and
protects the print job from unwanted changes.
In order for customers to generate PostScript files that activate IBM Network
Color Printer CRDs and get the best printed results:
• Each customer needs a copy of a Printer Drivers diskette suitable for his or
her operating system. There are two ways to create additional Drivers
diskettes:
– You can duplicate one of the driver diskettes that came with the printer.
– You can use the disk images on the User Software CD to create more
driver diskettes.
• Each customer needs the User's Guide . This book gives instructions on
installing the printer driver, setting printer-specific print options, and printing
to a PostScript file. You can copy this from the User Software CD onto a
diskette, or print it and make photocopies.
If you give customers the User's Guide on diskette, to view it they will need
Adobe Acrobat Reader. This freeware utility is available from the Adobe FTP
and WWW sites. In addition, the Macintosh version is available on the User
Software CD .
For customers who need to specify colors exactly, you may want to show
them the color reference pages. This allows the customers to see exactly what
the color output will be when they specify a named Pantone color or a CMYK
percentage.
