Chapter 6. Configuring the IBM Network Color Printer

Printing a Configuration Page

This section describes how to configure the printer so that the users on
your network can send jobs to it. Using the operator panel on the front of
the printer, you will use the Setup menus to configure the printer. In
particular, you will enable the printer for each network communication
protocol from which it will receive jobs.
Use the information in the following sections as a guide as you progress
through the printer setup menus.
When you have finished configuring your network servers and the printer,
see the IBM Network Color Printer: User's Guide for information on:
• Installing printer drivers and software on Macintoshes, PCs, and
workstations
• Configuring Macintoshes, PCs and workstations to use the customer
software and for printing.

Before you use the Setup menus to configure the printer, take a moment to
print out a Configuration Page at the printer. This page will show you what
the current printer settings are. Use the page to write any notes that you
might need while configuring the printer, such as:
• The name you want to assign to the printer
• The TCP/IP address you want to assign to the printer
• The NetWare print servers you want to attach to the printer, and the login
names and passwords you will need in order to do so
• The password you want to assign to the printer
• Login names and passwords for any NetWare print servers and queues
that you want to attach to the printer
• Any other information you want to keep on hand while configuring the
printer.
