1. Test lamp control PCB motor drivers.
Composer/ Composer Lite. Put MCP or DMX-I in self test mode.
(Refer to MCP/DMX-I Owners manuals for details.)
DMX only version put luminaire in self test mode.
a. Note which panels move during calibration and which do not.
The panel sets are numbered 1 through 4, starting from the set
closest to lamp.
b. Remove power from the electronics plate by disconnecting 9-pin
CPC connector.
c. At lamp control PCB, move a motor connector for a known
"good" color panel set to the location of questionable set.
Reapply power. If "good" set does not move after moving
connector, replace lamp control PCB (refer to 6.2.28 Replacing
Lamp Control PCB).
d. Return connectors to normal positions.
2.Inspect Drive Shaft Assemblies.
a. Remove front head enclosure cover.
b. Inspect drive shafts and drive shaft links connecting motors to
color mechanism assembly.
c. Reconnect any disconnected links (refer to 6.1.5 Replacing the
Linear Actuator Motor Assembly) and replace any damaged
drive shaft assemblies (refer to 6.2.8 Replacing the Motor Drive
Shaft Assembly).
3.Test color changer.
a. Disconnect drive shaft assemblies from color mechanism drive
rings.
b. Move each drive ring by hand through total range of motion. No
more than 2 pounds (4.4 Kg) of force should be required to move
each ring. If more force is required, or if any filters are broken
or detached from individual carriers, replace color mechanism
assembly (refer to 6.1.4 Replacing the Color Mechanism).
4.Test the color motors.
a. With drive shaft assemblies still disconnected, cycle power to
fixture. All motors should drive their shafts. If motor drives
shaft only when disconnected from color mechanism, then
replace color mechanism assembly (refer to 6.1.4 Replacing the
Color Mechanism). If a motor does not drive under any
condition, then move its connection on yoke termination PCB to
connection of a known "good" motor. Cycle power to fixture. If
motor still does not drive, replace linear actuator motor (refer to
6.2.9 Replacing a Linear Actuator Motor).
