Configuring the Cisco MGCP IP Phone
This chapter describes supported features on the Cisco MGCP phone and information about how to
configure some features. Consult your call agent (CA) documentation for additional configuration
information.

The Cisco MGCP IP phone can be configured using the following methods:
The CA configures the phone through MGCP commands.
The MGCP phone communicates with a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server to
obtain configuration information at startup.
You configure some settings by using telnet to connect to your Cisco MGCP IP phone and enter
commands in a terminal window. You can also connect an ASCII terminal to your phone's console
port to enter the same commands.
Configuration files on the TFTP server that specify settings are downloaded by your phone at
startup.
You configure some features using the settings button on your MGCP phone.
This document does not describe configuration of the Cisco MGCP IP phone using the CA because
