Step 2 - Install the socket

Cable requirement

CAUTION: Power cable
Using an incorrect size of power cable could cause your SPX-5 Tiller
system to malfunction and reduce the power supplied to the drive
unit. Ensure the correct size is used. If in doubt, use a heavier gauge
cable.
Measure the distance between the intended location of the Tiller Drive socket and the
Course Computer, then use the information under Power cable requirement on
page 8 , to determine the correct cable to use to connect power, from the Course
Computer to the Tiller drive.

Fitting socket

1. Cut-out and tape the template supplied at the end of this book, to the bulkhead in
the required position.
2. Drill a 18 mm (
3. Lift off the template and remove any burrs or sharp edges.
4. Obtain a suitable length of cable as described above and feed one end through
the 18 mm hole in the bulkhead.
5. Connect each wire to the correct terminal on the socket, as in the following
illustration.

6. Using the two self-tapping screws, secure the socket to the bulkhead.
7. Route the free end of the cable to the Course Computer. Secure the cable as
necessary at regular intervals along the route.
