Before You Begin

CAUTION!
The clear protective film on the DCP501 display must be removed and transferred to the inside back cover of the
DCP501 User Guide. The Unit Address and Serial Number found on the protective film is required for activation of the
subscriber's DCP501 cable TV receiver by the cable TV service provider.
Before you begin, review the installation instructions, gather the required items, and complete
the tasks listed below:

Place the DCP501 on a dry, smooth, flat surface and remove any obstructions that could
interfere with the free flow of air over, under, or around it. Do not place anything on top of
the unit.

Disconnect power connections to all components before making any connections.
Do not disconnect the cable connection between the RF In and To RF In ports. Removal of this
cable could disrupt operation of the DCP501.
WARNING!
To avoid damaging the DCP501, do not use the cable connection between the RF In and To RF ports as a handle.

Installing the DCP501

Before making any connections to the DCP501, refer to the diagrams later in this section for
more detailed information.
CAUTION!
The DCP501 should be placed on a dry, smooth, flat surface. Any obstructions that could interfere with the free flow of
air over, under, or around the DCP501 should be removed. Do not place anything on top of the unit
To install the DCP501:

Connect the TV to the DCP501.

Connect the DCP501 for Cable TV.

Connect speakers and optional subwoofer.
4
Connect the VCR to the DCP501.
5
Connect the AM and FM antennas (supplied with DCP501).
6
Plug the DCP501 into a wall outlet.
CAUTION!
Do not plug the DCP501's power cord into a wall outlet until you have completed all connections between the
DCP501 and other components.
