ADJUSTING THE VALVE CLEARANCE
The following procedure applies to all of the
valves.
TIP:
• Valve clearance adjustment should be made
on a cold engine, at room temperature.
• When the valve clearance is to be measured
or adjusted, the piston must be at top dead
center (TDC) on the compression stroke.
1. Remove:
• seats
• rear console
Refer to "SEATS, REAR CONSOLE AND
INSTRUMENT PANELS" in chapter 8.
• center protector
Refer to "PANELS AND FRONT CON-
SOLE" in chapter 8.
2. Remove:
• intake tappet cover 1
• exhaust tappet cover
• camshaft sprocket cover 2
3. Disconnect:
• spark plug cap 1
4. Remove:
• spark plug 2
