2. PRELIMINARY INFORMATION ON THE ENGINE
2.1 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Direction of rotation: clockwise observing engine from side opposite flywheel.
Timing: pushrod and rocker arm with gear driven camshaft in crankcase.
Air supply: air cleaning by means of a dry-type air filter. For MINI-55 engine, air supplied by turbocharger.
Fuel system:
(a) mechanical priming pump equiped with membrane, fitted on RONIM-V and SMI-R2 and SMI-R3 gearbox.
(b) electric priming pum, for the rest of gearbox used.
Combustion system: Swirl chamber (Mini 17 - 26 – 29- 33- 44).
Cycle: diesel 4 stroke.
Cooling: liquid cooled circulation controlled by centrifugal pump with thermostatic control and heat exchanger. Cooled exhaust
collector.
Injection pump: BOSCH type.
Lubrication: forced-feed lubrication by gear-pump(Mini 17 – 26 - 29). Forced-feed lubrication by trochoid pump (Mini 33 – 44 –
55).
Electrical system: 12V.
Alternator 40A (Mini 17 - 26 – 29).
2.2 COOLING CIRCUIT
2.2.1 "FRESHWATER" COOLING CIRCUIT (Fig. 2.1)
use anti-freeze as indicated in section 4.2.2 of this manual.
