xi Conventions
The TOSHIBA GA-1040
enables you to use your copier as a networked printer.
Preface
You can use the TOSHIBA GA-1040 to print final documents or to proof jobs you
will later print on an offset press. You send a print job to the TOSHIBA GA-1040
as you would to any other printer—you select it from the Printers dialog box on
Microsoft Windows computers, or in the Chooser on Apple Mac OS computers—
and then print from within any application.
The term "GA-1040" is used in this manual to refer to the TOSHIBA

GA-1040. The name "Aero" is used in screen captures to represent the GA-1040.

Conventions

The following icons are used in this manual:
Indicates features that require the PostScript Option.
Indicates features that require a hard disk drive.
If you have purchased the Command WorkStation
, the GA-1040 includes
Command WorkStation software, which enables an operator to manage all jobs sent
to the GA-1040. Some of the job management features of the Command WorkStation
are also available from Fiery WebSpooler
. Although it might not be the case at all
sites, it is assumed that an operator controls and manages jobs sent by users from
remote workstations. For information of the features of the Command WorkStation,
see the Job Management Guide.

About this manual

This manual is intended for those remote users who send jobs via the network or via a
parallel port connection between their workstation and the GA-1040. It covers the
following topics:
• Printing from a Windows computer
• Printing from a Mac OS computer
• Using special features, such as printing from the Touch Panel display, variable data
documents and printing duplex pages
• Downloading files using WebDownloader
