Self-diagnostic (Error) Messages

If a self-diagnostic message appears, refer to and follow the instructions in the touch panel
display as well as those provided in this manual.
Message
Paper has jammed
in the ● area. Follow
the diagram to
remove jammed
paper.
Return pg.1 to the
top and press the
Start key.
Remove the paper
from the sorter.
Attach the sorter
to the main unit.
Prepare a new black
toner cartridge.
Prepare a new yellow
toner cartridge.
Press the Black key
to copy in Black
mode.
The yellow drum
cart. must be
replaced soon.
Cause
An original or paper jam
has occurred, allowing
no further copying.
Copying was stopped
due to a problem while
using the feeder
(optional accessory).
Paper from previous
jobs remain in the
sorter bins.
The sorter (optional
accessory) is not
attached properly to the
main unit.
There is too little toner
remaining in the toner
cartridge of the color
indicated. Copying
cannot be performed.
There is too little toner
remaining in the toner
cartridge of the color
indicated. Color
copying cannot be
performed.
The drum cartridge of
the color indicated
must be replaced soon.
Chapter 7 Troubleshooting
Remedy
See the location indicated and
removal procedures described in
the screen for instructions to
remove the jammed paper.
(See the Reference Manual,
Clearing Paper Jams Chapter 4.)
Reset the originals, including the
first page, in the feeder (optional
accessory). Then, press the
key.
Remove the paper from all of the
bins.
Press the sorter (optional accessory)
against the main unit until it clicks into
its locking position.
Replace the toner cartridge for the
indicated color. (See the Reference
Manual, Replacing Toner
Cartridges p. 5-19.)
Replace the toner cartridge for the
indicated color. (See the Reference
Manual, Replacing Toner
Cartridges p. 5-19.)
To make copies in black only, press
Black
the
key. (See Switching between
the Full Color Mode and Black
Monochrome Mode (including
ACS) p. 2-21.)
You can continue copying,
however you must replace the
drum cartridge soon.
