Two of the SFP ports (Host 1 and Host 2) are for host server attachment.

  • Page 35 Ethernet port The Ethernet port is for an RJ-45 10BASE-T or 100BASE-T Ethernet connection. Use the Ethernet connection to directly manage storage subsystems. Expansion port (Model 60U/60X only) The expansion port is used to connect up to three FAStT EXP drive expansion units to the RAID controllers.

    Direct-management method: This method uses Ethernet connections from a management station to each controller. You must install at least one management station. The management station can be the host or a workstation on the Ethernet network. A management station will have the client software installed. Attach Ethernet cables to each management station (one pair per storage server).

    Installing the storage-management software Install the storage-management software by using the procedures in the IBM FAStT Storage Manager Installation and Support Guide for your operating system. Use that document and the online help to configure the logical drives, partitions, and so on for the RAID controllers.
