You can choose to install DS Storage Manager on the Windows operating system with either
of the graphical mode or the unattended mode:
The graphical mode allows you to use an online wizard that guides you through the
installation process providing prompts and information necessary to complete the
installation.
The unattended mode (also called

After you have installed the DS6000 Storage Manager, the following results occur:
The DS Storage Manager server and the IBM System Storage DS Network Interface
server are activated. These servers are set to automatic startup, so that when you start
your computer, these servers are automatically started as Windows services.
The DS Storage Manager application, which includes the real-time and simulated
manager components, is activated. These components can both be installed on the same
server and are integrated into the user interface. They are designed to help you create
and manage the physical and logical configurations of your Storage Complexes and
Storage Units. Also, the real-time manager application provides you the opportunity to use
the Copy Services features that you have purchased.

3.3 Connecting to your DS6000 SMC

To connect to the DS6000 SMC from the browser, enter the Web site address (URL) of the
PC or the DS SMC that you have purchased. The Web site consists of the TCP/IP address as
shown in Figure 3-1, or a fully qualified name that the DNS server can resolve.

If, for example, your SMC IP address is 10.0.0.1 and you connect to
