forms the interface between a
device (such as the AirCard) and
the operating system on your
PC.
Note: Do not forcefully insert the
AirCard. This may damage
connector pins. For instructions
on removing the AirCard, see
page 21.

Installing the Driver (Windows
XP)
This section applies, only if you are running Windows XP. In
the other supported operating systems, the driver is installed
automatically.
The AirCard CD includes an AirCard driver for each
supported operating system. The AirCard will not function
properly unless the appropriate driver for your operating
system is installed.
Driver installation is done through a wizard.
To install the AirCard driver in Windows XP:
1.
If the installation CD is not already in your CD-ROM
drive, insert it.
2.
If the CD start-up menu is displayed, use the
the lower left corner of the screen to exit the menu.
3.
Close any Windows programs that are running.
4.
With the SIM card inserted into the AirCard (page 6) and
the label of the AirCard facing up, insert the AirCard into
your PC Card slot. Windows should detect that a new
device has been inserted and launch a wizard that guides
you through the driver installation.
5.
Before working with the wizard, grasp the tip of the
antenna and pull it to extend the antenna fully (it should
click into place). Pivot the antenna hinge so that it is
vertical (Figure 3-5 on page 18).
6.
On the first window of the Found New Hardware Wizard,
Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)

to proceed.
7.
Search for the best driver in these locations
Select the
Include this location in the search
button, and the
d:\Drivers\WinXP
then enter
your CD-ROM drive. Click
window.
8.
If a warning appears stating that AirCard 710/750 has not
passed Windows Logo testing, click
9.
Finish
Click and repeat steps 6 to 9 as prompted.
