System controller mode

When the installer has set up the system in system control mode for use with the HDS switch, the keypad
powers up with the login menu (Figure 61).

Log on. Normally you will enter a user number (up to four digits) and press enter to access system control
through the keypad. Once the keypad recognizes your user ID, its displays and operations will be almost the
same as in standard or hybrid Digiplex modes. The maximum values for many resources will be larger.
Log off. To log off the keypad, hold esc and press enter, then confirm that you intend to log off. The
display will return to the system controller mode login menu (Figure 61).
System responses. If the system controller does not recognize your user ID, the message NOT
AUTHORIZED will display for a few seconds and the display will return to the login. The same message
displays if you attempt to access a resource for which you do not have authorization.
Occasionally, you may also see the message NO RESPONSE FROM SYSTEM. This will occur repeatedly if
the system controller is not functioning or if the keypad connection to it has been broken. The message may
also appear during ongoing operations if the communication has been disrupted by other messages on the
circuit connecting keypads to the system controller. In this situation, retrying will usually succeed.
Access menus. If a system controller is not available and you need to change the keypad's setup, you can
access the menus by entering the special user number 55555. This brings you to the same place as holding
down the enter key for three seconds to access menus. You must then enter the menu code as usual. The
version numbers and other system parameters are also accessible from the user code entry screen by holding
down the menu key.
Local logon mode. An option for Digiplex mode that will secure a keypad in a public location is now
available. This local logon feature can be set up by the installer. When using this feature, the keypad operates
much like the system controller mode, requiring you to enter a code before you can use the functions of the
keypad. The difference is that permissions for access to cameras and other resources are stored in the keypad as
they are in normal Digiplex mode. Only one logon code is used for each keypad rather than a logon code for
each user.
Timeouts. Both system controller mode and the local logon feature can be set by the installer to timeout
after a period of inactivity. After the timeout, you must enter the access code, either user code or keypad logon
code, again to gain access. The timeout can be set for 1 to 99 minutes.
