Removal and Replacement Procedures

System Board

To remove and replace the system board:
1.
Perform the steps in the "Service Preparations" section as previously shown.
2.
Remove the access panel.
3.
Remove all expansion boards.
4.
Disconnect all cables that are attached to the system board.
5.
Remove the processor, processor guide rails, and the DIMMs.
6.
Remove the six retaining screws that secure the system board to the chassis.
7.
Slide the board 1/2 inch toward the front of the chassis to clear the I/O panel connectors,
then lift the board up and out of the chassis.

To install a new system board, reverse the above procedure.
NOTE: When installing the system board, insert the first screw nearest the power supply to
properly align the board in the chassis.
CAUTION: Static electricity can damage the electronic components of the
workstation. Before beginning these procedures, be sure you are discharged of
static electricity by briefly touching a grounded metal object.
CAUTION: Before removing the access panel, ensure that the workstation is
turned off, all cables are disconnected from the back of the workstation, and the
power cord is disconnected from the grounded AC outlet.
