Running View System Information (INSPECT)
NOTE: View System Information (INSPECT) will detect Compaq hardware. Devices from other
manufacturers may not be detected.
The View System Information (INSPECT) utility provides information about the system after it
has been configured, including:
System
Contents of the operating system startup files
System ROM
System storage
System ports
Current memory configuration
ROM version
Type of processor and coprocessor
Diskette, CD-ROM, and hard drives
Active printer and communication interfaces
Keyboard
Graphics
Windows files
Network status
Miscellaneous
NOTE: You must create a diagnostics diskette before you can run INSPECT. See "Creating a
Diagnostics Diskette" in the "Computer Setup and Diagnostics Utilities" section under
"Diagnostics Utilities."
To run INSPECT:
1.
Restart the workstation from the diagnostics diskette.
2.
Press Enter to bypass the welcome screen.
3.
Select View System Information (INSPECT), then press Enter.
4.
Select one of the available options:
Print the inspect status.
Save the inspect status to a file.
Add comments to a parameter status.
Exit the utility.
