WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS WHEN PERFORMING DO - IT - YOURSELF OPERATION
When performing any inspection or maintenance work on your vehicle, always take care to prevent serious accidental injury to
yourself or damage to the vehicle.

WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS WHEN PERFORMING DO-IT-YOURSELF OPERATION

WARNING
• Be careful not to touch the hot components such as engine,
radiator, exhaust manifold, catalytic converter, and muffler
when the engine is just stopped. They may burn you badly.
• Never get under a vehicle when it is jacked up. If the vehicle
slips off the jack, you could be badly injured. If you have to
work under the vehicle, support the vehicle with vehicle jack
and safety stand.
• Always stop the engine and do not smoke or allow open flames
(or sparks) near the vehicle when working for battery and fuel
related components.
• Do not connect and disconnect the battery terminals when the
ignition key is in "ON" position.
• The polarity of battery, i.e. the connections for positive and
negative cables, must not be interchanged.
• Make sure that the ignition key is "OFF" when performing any
works in an enclosed space such as a garage.
• Keep the used oil and coolant out of reach of children.
• Make sure to shift the transmission to "P" (automatic
transmission) or "neutral" (manual transmission) before start-
ing any operation.
• The electrical cooling fan can start to operate unexpectedly
even when the engine is stopped. Disconnect battery cables
while working on near around the radiator and cooling fan.

SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
CAUTION
• Check the level of engine oil and every fluid including coolant daily.
If you drive on while the fluid levels are low, you vehicle can be
damaged and such damages will not be covered by warranty.
• Use only Ssangyong genuine oils and fluids.
• Do not allow oils and coolant to make contact with skin or
painted surfaces during inspection or refill of them. They can
also damage paint finish. If skin contact happens, rinse affected
areas immediately with plenty of water and then consult a
doctor.
• Do not overfill the oil and coolant. Or the engine and transaxle
may be damaged. Maintain the specified level.
• The performance of oils and coolant may be deteriorated when
they are exposed to dust and moisture. Be careful not to con-
tact with dust while refilling.
• The oils could be spoiled after a certain period of time even
with short traveling distances. In such a case, consult your
Ssangyong Dealer or Ssangyong Authorized Service
Operation.
• Improperly disposed engine oil and/or other fluids can pollute
the environment. Dispose of used fluids in accordance with
local environmental regulations.
