If you subscribe to Caller Display and select
manual collection, then instead of the
automatically calling up Amserve

when email is waiting, it will simply notify you
on the display (see right) as well as flashing
the red email light.
& Note, if you've selected manual collection but have not made an email call
for 24 hours, the

You can collect email manually at any time by holding down the EMAIL
button for approx 5 seconds until the message
displayed at the bottom of the screen.
We recommend that
automatic collection. This offers two major advantages: firstly, email can be
delivered to you the moment it arrives at Amserve; secondly, it provides you
with caller identification which allows you to see the name and number of
the caller before you pick up the phone. With most telephone service
providers, you can call 150 and ask for this service to be added (then refer to
page 139). Caller Display also enables you to designate specific 'ringtones' to
certain callers or recipients (see also page 95).
You cannot use Caller Display and automatic collection if you're using the
as a switchboard extension.

Polling
Polling is the name of the process whereby the
Amserve to collect any waiting email. Bear in mind that some form of polling will occur
no matter what email collection method you've selected – automatic, polling or manual.
