Installing an
Alternate
Emulation
User´s Manual
Caution:
Do not touch any connector contacts to avoid possible electrostatic
damage to the printer.
Important:
When installing two RAM cards, first install the lower one, and then
the upper one. If you install them in the opposite order, the upper
card prevents the lower card from being installed.
Turn power on. If necessary, change buffer memory assignment
(page protect or jam recovery) using the control panel.
Alternate emulations are offered with emulation cards. You can use
these emulations to connect your printer to different computers. The
FPS card (PostScript Level 2 compatible) and the IBM/EPSON card
are available.
The installation procedure is the same as that for the RAM card
except that the emulation card uses the bottom connector.
To install an alternate emulation, follow these steps:
1. If RAM cards are already installed, remove them.

Install the RAM card.
Push its top edge
downwards so that holes of
the card align with locating
pins of the connector and
the card is secured by
retaining clips.
To remove an unsealed
RAM card push out the
retaining clips. When, the
card slants outwards pull
the card to remove.
