NOTE:
To unlockthe steering wheel, insertthe key,
and then turn the steering wheel and key
simultaneously.

STARTING (For Carburetor)
Normal Starting Procedu're
1. If your car has manual transaxle, place the
shift lever in neutral and depress the clutch.
If your car has automatic transaxle, place
the shift lever in "P".
2. Tum the key to "START*. Release the key
as soon as the engine starts. If the engine
does not start immediately, do not operate
the starter for more than 15 seconds at a
time. Try again after waiting a few seconds.

If the Engine is Cold
COLD ENGINE
DEPRESS 1 AND RELEASE 2 ssA20ooc
DRIVING YOUR HYUNDAI
1. Press the accelerator pedal all the way to
the floor, then release it.
2. Tum the key to the "START". Release the
key as soon as the engine starts.
WARNING:
Do not start the engine with the transaxle
engaged In gear.
CAUTION:
Do not leave the car unattended durlng this
warm-up period.
If the car is In a garage, be sure that the
garage door is open. Letting the engine
door open, Is a hazardous practlce. Never
run the engine in your garage any longer
than it takes to start the engine and back the
car out.

Warm Engine
WARM ENGINE

DEPRESS 1/2 DOWN
o Depress and hold the accelerator pedal about
half of the way down while cranking.
NOTE:
If the engine is hard to start at high ambient
ternperatures, hold the accelerator pedal on
the floor during cranking.
o Tum the ignition key to the "START" posi-
tion, and then release the key and the pedal
when the engine starts.

Flooded Engine
FLOODED ENGINE
Depress the accelerator pedal fully and hold it
to the floor until the engine starts. Never "pump"
the accelerator pedal.
