I already have a router that I connect to a modem using Ethernet WAN.
Q
May I use this instead of the Fibre Hub?
Most routers that can connect using Ethernet WAN should work when plugged in
to your Openreach modem, but please bear in mind the following points.
The BT engineer can show you a working internet connection using your Fibre
Hub only. If you don't want one of your computers to be connected to your
Fibre Hub, the engineer will connect their own laptop, using an Ethernet cable,
to make sure that your internet connection is working. The engineer will leave
the Fibre Hub in place for you once the installation and checking are complete.
After the engineer has left, you may unplug your Fibre Hub and connect a
non-BT-supplied router to your Openreach modem.
If you prefer to use a non-BT-supplied router, you'll need to check with
the supplier or manufacturer that it's compatible with BT Business Total
Broadband Fibre.
We can help with non-BT-supplied equipment and software if you've signed up
for our IT Support Manager service (charged per incident or by subscription).
