4.5 TROUBLESHOOTING
Below are some common faults, their probable causes and suggested remedy .
FAULTS
Starter will not crank when
turning the key to RUN position
Starter cranks but engine won't
start when turning the key in
RUN position.
Engine starts but it stops after a
few seconds when turning the
key in RUN position.
The starter cranks also after the
engine is running.
Rough idle
Drop in engine performance
Bruning smell, smoke
Clutch engages at too high RPM
Exhaust too noisy
PROBABLE CAUSES
Bad connections on starter cables
Bad grounding
Interruption on fuse
Damaged cables
Battery connections loose
Battery discharged
Starter failure
Electronic box or relay failure
Bad cable connection
Bad H.T coil connections or coil
failure
Bad H.T. coil grounding
Electronic box or ignition failure
Wet spark plug
Malfunction on induction system
Bad cable connection
Electronic box or ignition failure
Bad
carburettor

Electronic box failure
Starter relay remains excited
Bad carburettor adjustment

Bad compression
Bad carb. adjustment
Insufficient fuel flow
