18.4 Phone Calls and VoIP

I cannot make VoIP calls.
Ensure that your V310 is set up as shown in your Quick Start Guide and
Look at the LCD screen. If a SIP account is registered, its name appears here. If a SIP account is
not registered, No Service displays.
If no SIP account is registered, do the following.
The V310's SIP settings may be misconfigured. Check your SIP settings and re-enter them if

necessary (see

73). If they are not correct, change them using information supplied by your ISP or
network administrator. If this does not help, contact your ISP or network administrator.
If a SIP account is registered, try to make the call. If you still cannot call out, do the following.
Check your DNS (Domain Name Service) settings (see

73).
• If you use a static IP address, see
to change DNS settings.
• If you use a dynamic IP address (DHCP) your DNS settings are controlled by the DHCP server.
The DHCP server may belong to your service provider, or it may be on your network. If your
V310 does not get DNS server information automatically, check the settings on any hardware
to which the V310 is connected, or contact your ISP or network administrator.
• If you use PPPoE, your DNS settings are controlled by your Internet Service Provider. If your
V310 does not get DNS server information automatically, contact your ISP.
Make sure that your V310 uses the voice codecs recommended by your VoIP service provider (see

Section 8.3 on page 57
I can make some VoIP calls, but not others.
