11 WHEELS

11.8 Adjusting Wheelbase Width

Perform this procedure on one side of the wheelchair at a time for ease of adjustment.
The wheelbase width can be increase/decreased by
1.
Remove the rear wheels. Refer to Removing/Installing Rear Wheels on page 62.
2.
Loosen the axle nut and rotate axle busing to increase/decrease the wheelbase width.
3.
Securely tighten axle nut. Torque nut to 30-35 ft.-lbs.
4.
Count the number of threads showing on the axle bushing.
WARNING
ALWAYS leave
into camber tube otherwise damage and/or injury
may occur.
The number of threads showing on the axle
bushing should be equal on both sides of the
wheelchair. Otherwise, wheelchair performance
may be affected.
5.
Repeat STEPS 2-3 for the opposite axle bushing.
6.
Install the rear wheels. Refer to Removing/Installing Rear Wheels
on page 62
