1.5 High-density Configuration Solutions (used in older versions of HP
CPxxxx)
High-density solutions can include a UBB and a CBB. The CBB can hold a maximum of 38 1U
application nodes, 18 2U nodes or 9 4U nodes. High-density configurations are created from the
following Gigabit Ethernet interconnects:
ProCurve 2824 (20 ports)
ProCurve 2848 (40 ports)
ProCurve 5308 (32 ports)
ProCurve 9304M (56 ports)
ProCurve 9308M (120 ports)
Myricom 64-port interconnect
Myricom 128-port interconnect
There is significant flexibility in creating each solution. For example, a single rack solution is
created using the 40-port HP ProCurve 2848. This system will accommodate up to thirty-two 1U
application nodes and a control node, or seventeen 2U application nodes and one control node.
If the control node must be connected to the interconnect, a maximum of 39 of the available 40
ports are used for application nodes. To create two-rack solutions, a CBB is added to the single-rack
solution.
The following high-density solutions are available:
Maximum of 38 "1U" compute nodes or 18 "2U" nodes
within each CBB.
Consists of compute nodes, network switches (2 in each
CBB), and Power Distribution Units (PDUs).
1U Nodes: One Rack of up to 20 compute nodes plus
one control node
2U Nodes: One Rack of up to 17 compute nodes plus
one control node
1U Nodes: One Rack of up to 24 compute nodes plus
one control node
2U Nodes: One Rack of up to 17 compute nodes plus
one control node
1U Nodes: One Rack of up to 32 compute nodes plus
one control node
1U Nodes: One Rack of up to 32 compute nodes plus
one control node
