Regional Codes
Regional codes are part of the DVD standard—your regional code (Region 1) is embedded in the DVD
software. Regional codes on DVDs are optional. Discs without codes will play on any player or drive in
any country.
There are six major DVD regions:
• Region 1: United States and Canada
• Region 2: Japan, Europe, Middle East, South Africa
• Region 3: Southeast Asia (including Hong Kong)
• Region 4: Australia, New Zealand, Central and South America
• Region 5: Northwest Asia, Africa (except South Africa)
• Region 6:
