Using the FS-4 HD with a Computer

Once video clips are recorded to the FS-4 HD it is possible to use
those clips in most computer based DV/HD NLE systems. This
section contains the following:
Initial Setup ......................................................................... 34
Mounting the FS-4 HD in Windows ..................................... 34
FS-4 HD and FAT 32 ........................................................... 37
Using Avid OMF Clips FS-4Pro HD only.............................. 38
Dismounting the FS-4 HD (Windows) .................................. 41
Mounting the FS-4 HD (Macintosh) .................................... 42
Dismounting the FS-4 HD (Macintosh) ............................... 43
In the past, to get footage into an NLE system, it was necessary
to capture / digitize the footage using a video capture card.
The FS-4 HD's DTE functionality eliminates the capture stage.
All that is necessary is the moving of the video files from the
FS-4 HD to a computer. To do this:
• Connect the FS-4 HD directly to a computer with an
active OHCI compliant IEEE-1394 FireWire port and
the necessary FireWire disk drive drivers.
For More Information
Go to the Focus Enhancements' website (www.focusinfo.com) for
more compatibility information.
• Use the FS-4 HDD Bypass mode, refer to
page 34 for more information.
The FS-4 HD is compatible with any computer system that can
read FAT 32 volumes, such as Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP
and Mac OS9/OS10.
