Preparing for Upgrading Systems Over the Network

To enable administrators to upgrade Express5800/320Ma over your local network, do
the following:
1. On a network share, create a folder and copy the contents of the
Express5800/320Ma ExpressBuilder CD (1 of 2) to the folder.
2. In the same folder, create a folder named ECLSRE, and copy the contents of the
ExpressBuilder CD (2 of 2) to the new folder.

Overview of the Upgrade Procedure

The upgrade procedure removes the installed release of the Express5800/320Ma
software and installs a newer release.
The upgrade procedure installs the following:
Express5800/320Ma software, including drivers, ftServer Manager, ftServer
Management Console (ftSMC), and Express5800/320Ma Software Availability
Manager (SAM)
PowerChute Network Shutdown (PCNS) support utility, if the computer is running
PCNS
PCNS is software for using an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) with
Express5800/320Ma systems.
Java 2 Runtime Environment (JRE) for using the Virtual Technician Module (VTM)
console
Adobe Reader
Operating system files that are customized for Express5800/320Ma systems
Express5800/320Ma documentation

N O T E
During the upgrade, which takes approximately 25
minutes, applications that depend on Microsoft
Management Console (MMC) are not available.
N O T E
JRE and Adobe Reader are installed only if the latest
supported releases are not already installed on the
system.
