3. A command that is successful should leave the original path in
GONEXT
Validated status and the new path in Ready status.
Since the Validated status is set ONLY at the above times, it is critical to
understand that "Validated" status may be very out of date. The non-active path
is NOT monitored by HAFO and may fail silently in some HAFO configurations.
Status Associated with a Failover Event

Array Failure

This status indicates an error was returned from the hardware (HBA or Disk
Controller) indicating an inability to communicate with the Ldev via this path.
When this status is generated, the device adapter reported its failure via a SCSI
message that was monitored and acted upon by HAFO. Failover occurred and
data requests to the high availability array have been rerouted to the alternate
data path. Normal system I/O activity continues on the alternate path.

Timeout/No Reply

This state reflects the fact that I/O to the Ldev is not making progress due to a
condition that could not be determined. Possible causes for this are:
• The host adapter is not responding
• Cabling is broken or not carrying data
• Array controller not responding
• Heavy I/O load on the device/channel/HBA (usually the device)

Failover Failed

This status means a failure has occurred on the primary path. When failover was
attempted, the alternate path was unavailable.
The alternate path has failed due to a data path fault (either an actual failure or
I/O timeout) or possibly an invalid configuration. Troubleshoot this instance by
repairing the failure on the primary and alternate paths.
