This section contains important information about known issues for this release of the HP Insight
Management Agents, which might affect the installation, configuration, or use of the agents.
No Agent Support for the LSI1068 SAS I/O Controller in the rx2660 and
BL860C/BL870C Servers
The mpt driver that is included in the RHEL4 (except RHEL4U6, in-distro mpt of RHEL4U6
contains agent support), RHEL5, and SLES10 releases do not contain agent support, therefore it
does not have the necessary agent components required by the HP System Insight Manager to
operate properly on the rx2660, BL860C, and BL870C servers. This issue is resolved with a special
version of the mpt driver that HP has qualified, which can be downloaded from the HP Support
website:
1.
Go to http://www.hp.com/.
2.
Click Software & Drivers.
3.
Click Download drivers and software (and firmware).
4.
In the For Product field, enter mpt rx2660.
5.
Press Go.
6.
If prompted, select the server type.
7.
Select the appropriate OS from the Product search results list.
8.
Select Driver - Storage Controller
9.
Click the Download button for the latest MPTLinux Driver Update for Integrity Servers
driver to obtain a tar archive of all necessary files
Storage Agents Do Not Display Serial Number and Firmware Version on
SCSI Controller Cards
The Storage SNMP Agents do not display the SCSI controller OIDs for the serial number and
firmware.
You can obtain this information yourself, as follows:
Check the SCSI controller card for the serial number, which is labeled on the card.
Watch for the firmware version during system initialization. When the SCSI controller card
is initialized, the firmware version is displayed.
OpenIPMI Driver and hpima Fail Due to Baseboard Management Controller
Initialization Failure
A Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) initialization failure causes the OpenIPMI driver
and hpima to fail during the system boot. Some of the hpima daemons stop responding to all
snmpget and snmpset requests. Restarting hpima and snmpd does not resolve the issue. This
issue is indicated by the following error message in the hpima log file, /var/log/hp/hpima:
Open IPMI device driver is not loaded
Follow this procedure to reset the BMC and restart the hpima services:
1.
Stop all daemons using the IPMI device:
Shell> /etc/init.d/hpwbem stop
Shell> /etc/init.d/hpima stop
Shell> /etc/init.d/hpmgmtbase stop
2.
Telnet to the MP (Management Processor) of the server.
For more information about the MP, see the documentation that came with your server.
