BASIC OPERATION
D U.S.A., International and Canadian channels
The IC-M604 s pre-programmed wth 59 U.S.A., 59 nter-
natonal and 63 Canadan channels. These channel groups
may be specfied for the operatng area.
q Push [CH/WX] to select a regular channel.
• If a weather channel appears, push [CH/WX] agan.
w Whle pushng and holdng [H/L], push [CH/WX] to
change the channel group, f necessary.
• U.S.A., Internatonal and Canadan channel groups can be se-
lected n sequence.
e Rotate [SELECTOR] to select a channel.
• "DUP" appears for duplex channels.
• Pushng the keypad or [Y]/[Z] on the mcrophone also selects
a channel.

D Weather channels
The IC-M604 has 10 pre-programmed weather channels.
These are used for montorng broadcasts from NOAA (Na-
tonal Oceanographc and Atmospherc Admnstraton.)
The transcever can automatcally detect a weather alert
tone on the selected weather channel whle recevng on an-
other channel, durng standby on a regular channel or whle
scannng. (p. 44)
q Push [CH/WX] once or twce to select a weather channel.
• "WX" appears when a weather channel s selected.
• "WX ALERT" appears when the weather alert functon s
turned ON. (p. 44)
w Rotate [SELECTOR] to select a channel.
• Pushng the keypad or [Y]/[Z] on the mcrophone also selects
a channel.
