Performing Diagnostics
Running Loopback and Read/Write Buffer Diagnostic Tests
CAUTION!
Although SANsurfer FC HBA Manager protects against normal operation
interruption and testing disruption, it is your responsibility to ensure that the
diagnostics are run without causing interruptions to other processes and
disruptions to the actual testing process.

Preparing for Diagnostic Testing

Preparation differs for the loopback and read/write buffer tests. In addition, you
can use the SANsurfer FC HBA Manager to locate the adapter you want to test.
NOTE:
The loopback test is disabled on all Linux inbox drivers.

Finding the Adapter Port You Want to Test

Most adapter ports provide a beacon LED that lets you find the location of a port
by the way it flashes. SANsurfer FC HBA Manager allows you to activate a flash
beacon on a port. You can toggle this flash beacon on and off. Flash the 2xxx
adapter port's LED to locate the adapter port in your computer.
NOTE:
This feature is not supported on Converged Network Adapters or QLA22xx
series or older Fibre Channel adapters.
