CHAPTER
TWO
Connecting YourVCR
Now that you're familiar
with some of your VCR's features,
you're
ready to connect: the antenna
and the television.
You won't have
to complete
all of the connections
you see in this chapter
-- make
only those connections
that apply to your equ:pment.
You should keep in mind that there are twc s!;eps you need to
take to connect your VCR: first, connect the antenna
or cable to
the VCR, then connect the VCR to the television.

Cable to the VCR
The first thing you need to do is connect
the antenna
or cable.
Because
there are at least four different
types of antennas,
this
chapter
will show how to connect
all of them.
You don't need to
make all the connections.
First, find out what kind of antenna
you
have. Then, make the connection
for that type of antenna.
You
can then go straight
to the next section, "Connecting
the Televi-
sion."
This section
shows you:
• Connecting
cable antennas,
• Connecting
other antennas,
and
• Connecting
separate
UHF/VtIF
antennas.
Connectingcable antennas
If you have cable TV, this is the only antenna
you need to hook
up. Because
some cable companies
require
a cable box (for un-
scrambling
cable signals),
there
are two kinds
of cable connec-
tions shown: with and without
a cable box.

Find the "source" cable. It usually
comes out of the floor or out
of a wall. If it is connected
to your TV, dis:onnect
it.
Connect
the cable to the A2qTENNA
IN terminal
on the back
of your VCR. Screw or push the cable onto the terminal
until
it is tight.
When you are finished,
go to page 15, "(;onneeting
the Televi-
sion."
