After you have selected
the manufacturer's
code, turn
the
shuttle
ring right. The cursor will move to "Channel."
Use the ADJUST
dial to select the channel
on which your
cable box sends a signal to the VCR. If you connected
your
cable box with audio/video
cables, use the INPUT
button
to
select "LI".

You need to determine
whether
or not you have selected
the
correct
"Brand ,:ode." To do this, press the CHANNEL
buttons
on the remote
control. A,_you press the buttons,
the channel
number
on front of your VCR should
change. Watch your
cable box. Your cable box should show the exact same number
a moment: after it appears
on your VCE.

If your cable box does not change
channels
at all, or does not
show the exact same number
do one of_;he following:
• Try repositioning
or moving the cable box on top of the
VCR.
• If more than one "Brand
code" is listed for your type of
cable box, try a different
one. (You can use the CANCEL
button
to move back to the "Brand
code" option.)
After you have determined
that you are using the correct
Brand
Code, turn the shuttle
ring right to begin meraorizing
channels.
The TV screen will show you a message
that tlhe
VCR is memorizing
the channels
coming from your cable box.
Your TV screen: the frolrt of your VCR, and you cable box
should all display each channel
number,
one by one.
If a code number
is not listed for your type of cable box, or if none
of the numbers
listed will work, try each code, from 01 to 94, one
at a time.
If your cable box cannot be controlled
by a remote
control
(e.g., if
you have a "slide"-type
cable box), then your VCR will not be able
to change
channels
on the cable box.
If your cable box will not respond
to any of the codes, your VCR
cannot
change
channels
on the cable box. You will need to change
channels
yourself,
using the cable box's remote
control. You
should re-program
your VCR, choosing
"Cat:,le" in step @ on page
32. When programming
to record, you will need to leave your
cable box ON and tuned
to tlhe channel
you wish to record.
When the VCR is finished
memorizing,
it will return
to the VCR's
picture.
Automatic
programming
may include
vacant
channels
if there
was a noise or stray signal on the channel.
If this occurs, you can
manually
delete
the channels
using the procedure
in the section
"Adding and deleting
channels".
