Starting the engine
a. Reconnect sparkplugwire and cover (fig.7).
b. Move shift lever indicatorto "N" (neutral)position (fig.
8).
c. Placethrottle control (fig.9) in "FAST'position.
d. Placechokeleverin "CHOKE"pss_on (fig.7).
e. Graspstarter handle (fig. 7) with one hand and grasp
handlebar with otherhand. Pull ropeout slowly until
enginereachesstartof compression cycle(ropewill pull
slightlyharderat thispoint).

Pullropewitha rapid,continous, f ullarm stroke. Keep a
firmgripon thestarterhandleand let roperewindslowly.
Do notlet starterhandlesnap backagainststarter.
g. Repeatsteps(e.)and(f.)untilenginestarts. W henengine
starts. Place chokelever on engine halfwaybetween
"CHOKE" and "RUN" position(fig.7) and then moveto
"RUN"position as engine warmsup,
h. Movethrottle control ( fig.9) halfway batween "FAST`and
"STOP"position fora few minutesto warmup.
_b WARNING!
Keep drive control bar in "disengaged" positionwhen starting
the engine (fig. 9).
NOTE!
In order to idle smoothly, a new engine may require 3 to 5
minutes runnig time above slow idle spend. Idle speed has
been adjusted to be correct after this break-in period.
Tine operation
a. Move throttle control to desiredspeed.
b. Tine movement beginswhen drivecontrolbar is in "en-
gaged"position (fig.9).

Always release drive control bar before moving shift lever
into another position.
