The PCL5/PCL6 printer driver and EPSON Status Monitor cannot be used at the same time.
Installing the PCL5/PCL6 printer driver
Note:
❏ Installing the printer software for Windows XP or 2000 may require administrator privileges. If
you have problems, ask your administrator for more information.
❏ Turn off all virus protection programs before installing the printer software.
❏ The examples in this section are from the Windows XP operating system. They may vary in
appearance from what actually appears on your screen; however, the instructions are the same.
1. Make sure that the printer is turned on.
2. Double-click SETUP.EXE. The End User License Agreement dialog box appears.
3. Select the name of your printer, then click OK.
4. Read the license agreement, then click Accept.
The EPSON Printer Utilities Setup dialog box appears, and the program searches for the printer
and automatically configures the port.
Note:
If you are using a parallel interface cable, click Cancel, and then click OK. The parallel port is
configured automatically.
5. When the installation is complete, click OK.
After the installation is done, click Printer Properties to make the appropriate settings.
Note:
If you want to change the settings, you can access the PCL5/PCL6 printer driver by clicking Document
Default.
Accessing the PCL5/PCL6 printer driver
You can change the PCL5/PCL6 printer settings in the PCL5/PCL6 printer driver. To access the
printer driver, see "Accessing the printer driver" on page 216.
