86 Safety systems
Cont rol indica tor v for airb ag systems
The functiona lity of the airbag sy stems is
electronic ally monitored together with the
belt tensioners. Operational readiness is
indicated by control indicator v in the
instrument panel. When the ignition is
switched on, the control indica tor
illuminates for approx. 4 second s. If it
does not illuminate, does not go off within
4 seconds, or illuminates whilst d riv ing,
there is a fault in the belt tensioner system
or the a irb ag systems – see p age 78. The
belt tensioner or the airbag sy stems may
fail to trigger in the event of an a ccident.
Triggered airbag systems are indica ted by
steady illum ina tion of v.
