Kickdown

Accelerator pedal pressed past the
pressure point: below certa in speeds, the
transm ission shifts down into a lower gear.
Full engine power is availab le for
acceleration.
During kick down no ma nual gea r shifting is
possible.
When the engine speed a pproaches its
upper limit, the transmission shifts to a
higher gear during kick down even in
Manual mode.
Without kick down this automatic shift is
not effec ted in Ma nual m ode.

Engine braking

Automat ic mod e
When driving downhill, Easytronic does not
shift into higher gears until a fairly high
engine speed has been reached . When
braking, Easy tronic shifts d ow n in good
tim e.
Manual m ode
To utilise the engine braking effect, select a
low er gear in good time when driv ing
downhill.

"Rockin g the car"

If it becomes necessary to rock the vehicle
to free it from sand, mud, snow or a hole,
move the selector lever between the mid
position and R in a repeat pattern while
simultaneously app ly ing light pressure to
the accelerator pedal. Do not rac e the
engine a nd avoid sudden acceleration.
This applies only to the exceptional
circum stances mentioned a bove.

Vehicle storage

Before lea ving the v ehicle:
z Engage handbrake
z Remov e ignition key.
The last g ear engaged is retained. When
the selector lever is in position N no g ear is
eng aged.
When the ignition is switched off the
Easy tronic no longer respond s to
mov ement of the selector lever.
If the ignition k ey is not removed , the
battery may be discharged if the vehicle is
then left to sta nd for a lengthy p eriod of
time.
If the handbrake has not been applied, the
control ind icator R flashes for a few
seconds after the ignition is switched off.
